Eco-Friendly Aquatic Weed Removal
From what we learned in our first year of 2011, that in order to be efficient with harvesting, we would need a method that is different than most other harvesting contractors. We saw the need to keep the harvesters on location and not spending as much as 2/3 of the time transporting the weeds to the shore conveyor. We did this with our first purchase in 2012 of a transporter barge which is 3 times faster than a harvester and has the ability to hold 2 harvesters loads. We now have 6 harvesters that were built in the years form 2012 to 2019. The first 2 are for harvesting and the 3rd is skimming floating weeds and shore clean ups. Yes, we come to your shore line and clean the weeds that escape us from our harvesting out in the lake. Our efficient harvesting method made it possible to remove 647,460 pounds of weeds in 2013, from a small lake in Michigan, in just 7 days.
Huron Lakes Weed Control (HLWC) improves lake living by improving water conditions for sports like boating, swimming and fishing, while reducing daily beach clean-up of floating weeds created by boat propellers when going through weed beds. We work with Municipalities, lake association and lake water management boards to define the problem areas in your lake. We have the transportation equipment to move our harvesting equipment anywhere within a 80 mile radius of our home base in Pinckney, Michigan.
Our harvesting Pilots are the best and we use GPS Guidance System to keep them on the right track. We also use GPS Tracking (Fleetmatics) which give us live reporting of where the harvester is located and the amount of time the harvester spends in any one area. This give us accurate pricing. We also can issue a special password so that our customers can link on to see the work being done and the amount of time spent.
Our operating procedures utilizes our equipment in the most efficient manner by having a fast moving transporter barge that picks up the weeds from the harvesters. It then transports the weeds to the shore conveyor. The transporter, allows the harvesting machines to stay on location. This extends the operation time of the harvesters to twice their harvesting capacity. For 2013 season we will have 3 medium sized harvesters. This gives us the equivalent of 6 harvester that enlarges our capabilities to take on large lake harvesting projects.
For 2014 we will have the capability to split our harvesting crews into 2 separate harvesting units to give us the ability to take on smaller lake/pond projects.
